Haean Station (해안역, 解顔驛) – Daegu Metro Line 1

Overview

Haean Station sits on Daegu Metro Line 1 in Bangchon-dong, Dong-gu. Opened on May 2, 1998, the underground station lies 19m below ground with a 3-floor structure and relative side platforms.

The name Haean (해안, 解顔) traces back to the Battle of Gongsan during the Later Three Kingdoms era. After Goryeo founder Wang Geon’s forces suffered defeat by Later Baekje general Gyeon Hwon, the name emerged with the meaning of “passing down to descendants.”

Haean Station is strategically placed at the intersection of Dongchon-ro (Dongchon Singil) and Haedong-ro (Dongchon Gu-gil), covering riders not served by nearby Dongchon Station.

Note: Due to a curved platform section, there is a slight gap between the train and platform edge, though not wide enough to require special announcements.

Passenger Usage

Ridership at Haean Station is relatively low compared to other Line 1 stations. As of 2024, the daily average is 4,703 passengers.

Historic data shows a peak around 2014 (6,089 daily riders), but numbers fell during the COVID-19 pandemic (3,973 in 2020) and have only partially recovered.

The low density of high-rise apartments — restricted due to Daegu International Airport and Air Force Base flight paths — is the main reason for lower ridership.
